Introduction

You will learn proper operation and safety regarding the vertical bandsaw

    • Ask a core member to unlock the bandsaw

    • You must always ask permission to use the bandsaw

    • A core member must be in the room, within visible range, and in relatively close proximity at all times.

    • Is the blade good for the type of material you are cutting? Course blade for thick materials and fine blade for thin materials.

    • Is the machine clean? If not, clean it: unplug, open doors, clean out metal with brush and dustpan, dispose.

    • What is the size of my object and where is the cut?

    • Adjust the blade guard to the correct height. It should be about 1" above the cut

    • For small pieces or cuts close to the edge of parts, always use a push block.

    • NEVER cut with your hands directly in line wit the blade

    • Use switch to turn on the bandsaw

    • Carefully cut your part

    • Note that if you are slicing through an object, apply outwards, not inwards torque on the part to avoid damaging the blade

    • Turn off the machine

    • You must always clean up

    • Throw away any scrap parts

    • Re-lock the outlet

    • Open the doors, collect metal, and dispose properly.
